Lithium vs Graphene Batteries: The Ultimate Showdown
Selecting the right battery is the most critical decision for any electric bike builder or buyer in Bangladesh. Today, we compare the two reigning champions: Lithium-Ion (NMC/LFP) and Graphene (Lead-Acid variant).
1. Lifespan and Cycle Count
- Lithium Batteries: Lasts between 1,500 to 3,000 charge cycles. With proper care, they can easily serve you for 4 to 6 years.
- Graphene Batteries: Lasts around 500 to 800 cycles. Usually need replacement within 1.5 to 2.5 years.
2. Weight and Performance
Lithium batteries are incredibly lightweight. A 60V 20Ah Lithium pack weighs around 8-10 kg, whereas an equivalent Graphene pack weighs over 30 kg. This weight difference significantly impacts the acceleration and overall range of your E-Bike.
3. Verdict
If you want a low initial cost, Graphene is suitable. However, for long-term reliability, faster charging, and a lighter vehicle, Lithium is the clear winner.
